Introduction

Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of about 19 kilometers from the district headquarters of Hazaribagh in the state of Jharkhand. Earlier it used to be a national park. Now it is known as Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary.

Many wild animals can be seen in this sanctuary. There are a total of 12 places worth seeing here. The total area of ​​this wildlife sanctuary is about 150 square miles and 80 square miles is open forest. Shooting is strictly prohibited here.

Cutting or damaging trees and plants is strictly prohibited. All the animals can be seen only in these 80 miles of dense forests. Apart from this, general exploration is allowed in the outer edge of 70 square miles.

Establishment and history of the sanctuary

Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1954. The main purpose of creating a wildlife sanctuary here was to protect the local wildlife and especially to protect tigers, leopards, elephants and other major animals.

It is said that during the British rule, this area of ​​Hazaribagh was known as an important administrative center. At the same time, the British government took this step to protect wild animals. After the establishment of the sanctuary here in 1954, the responsibility of protecting this wildlife was taken.

In 1973, when the number of tigers started decreasing, people started hunting them. Then tiger conservation projects were run for its protection. Under which many rules were made to keep the tigers here safe.

By 1980 and 1990, many security projects were started in this Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary. The main purpose of which was to protect wildlife and trees and plants. From that time onwards, people kept coming here.

Due to which it became easier to come here. When it was seen that all the wildlife was under control, this place was opened for tourists from the 1990s. You can go here to see.

The geographical location and climate of Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary is normal. To come here, first of all, Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary starts as soon as you enter the main gate from the Hazaribagh main road. Entry fee is charged to go here.

There is a very dense forest in the wildlife sanctuary. It is spread over a total area of ​​150 square miles. In which mountains, dense forests, animals, birds, vegetation, herbs, many types of trees and plants are seen. There is no village to be seen here far and wide.

If there is a dense forest, then there will be flora and fauna. Most of them are sal trees, while many other places are filled with thorny trees. Many ponds have been built in this forest. Animals living in the forest come here to drink water.

In summer, water dries up in some places in the pond. In reality, the forest is full of flora all around. It needs to be recognized. For a knowledgeable person, this dense forest can be a natural wholesale of big plants. But it is strictly forbidden to harm the trees and plants here in any way.

Tiger Conservation Project

The Tiger Conservation Project was started in 1973. Its main objective was to protect the number of tigers present here. This project was named Project Tiger. This project was started so that the number of tigers and local animals here was decreasing day by day through hunting.

Due to which tigers and other animals were becoming extinct from here. Therefore, a national park was built here in Hazaribagh by the British government. Later, its name was changed to Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary.

Today, not a single tiger is seen here. It is said that some tigers were sent from here to save their existence. In earlier times, all types of animals living in the forest were seen here.

You can do trekking and adventure in Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary. For this, permission of the local manager is required. Paddle boating facility is available in the pond of Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary.
