Belief about the temple

Many years ago, when the country was under British rule, the British found this Shivling while excavating and right above the Shivling, they found a white statue of Goddess Ganga. Water keeps on emanating from the navel of the idol which falls on the Shivling after passing through the palms of both his hands.

Since then till today, the idols of Goddess Ganga and Lord Shiva are seated there and Maa Ganga is continuously doing Jalabhishek of the Lord. Water coming out on its own from the idol of Ganga inside the temple is a miracle in itself till date.

Such a temple will not be found anywhere in India, which is Patal Shiv. There is a river to the north and cremation ground to the east. It is said that those who have faith in God, they get a glimpse of two snakes and a female snake on the Shivling inside the temple.

Crowd of devotees

Especially, this temple is crowded the most during the months of Kartik Purnima, Mahashivratri, Ramnavami, Vaishakh, Jaith, Ashad. Apart from this, marriages are mostly performed in this temple. There is so much crowd in the premises of this temple that there is no place to even put a foot during weddings and engagements. One cannot even sit anywhere or have darshan of the Lord at that time. Less crowd is seen in this temple during the month of Shravan.
