Agni is a symbol of intention and represents the gihger faculties of the subconscious abilities that help us grow and evolve. The concept of the eternal flame is timeless and can easily tracscend different generations.

The Design

Inspired byarchimedes spiral, the shape rises from the tghree comers of the tringle, with a variable number of rebolutios and pitches, until they finally meet at the apex. The form has been proportioned to draw the sightlines upwards while one views the sculpture.

The structure is divided inot two parts, the sub-ground structure (foundation)and the superstructure (Sculpture). The structure has been made using tata structure YST 355 steel tubes. A tatal of 8.5 tonnes of tat structura steel circular hollow section (15 MM to 300 MM diameter) were used to create the structure.

There are three spines with heights of 10.86 metres, 9.8 metres and 9.5 metres. A total of 1124 slikes protrude from there three spines. The overall dimension of the Agni structure is 5.10 meetres in diameter and height of 10.8 metres.

Background

To celebrate the versatility of steel and its applications, Tata steel conceptualised a global design competition- “Notions of India” – to bring together architects from across the world to showcase their reativity by using steel structural hollow sections.

The competition also reinforces the mission of Tata Strictira, to enable contemporary, architectural marvels and innovative solutions of tomorrow.

“Agni” was one of the winning entries in the competition’s second edition organised in 2021, which saw over 5200 registrations from participants across 13 countries.
