A fair is held here on this day. People of both Hindu and Muslim communities offer chadar on the Samadhi. It is said that every year many people go to see the Lema here.
But one of the sadhus kept sitting in the premises, burning fire. Due to his supernatural powers, over time he became famous as Sadhu Shri Langta Baba because he always remained naked. In the cold season, sometimes he used to wrap the blanket given by the devotees around his body.
The first chadar is offered by Jamu Thana on the full moon day of Paush month at the Samadhi Sthal of Shri Langta Baba. Only after this other people offer chadar.
Shri Langta Baba was an object of respect and reverence for Hindus as well as Muslims and other communities. Shri Langta Baba is also known as Langeshwari Baba.
History of Shri Langta Baba
It is said that in the 1870s, he arrived here with a group of Naga Sadhus. At that time, Khargadih used to be a Pargana.
After a few days of stay, the group of Naga Sadhus left for their destination, but one Sadhu remained sitting naked in the police station premises, burning fire. Later, due to his miraculous qualities, this Sadhu became famous as Langta Baba.
In 1910, Shri Langta Baba left his body in Samadhi. After Baba left his body, both the Hindu and Muslim communities wanted to perform his last rites in their own way and were adamant.
On this, the enlightened people of both the communities together decided that the Samadhi of Baba should be built at the place where Shri Langta Baba left his body and the people of both the communities should worship him in their own way.
This tradition is still going on today. Hindus offer chadar in the morning. And after noon, Muslims offer chadar. Shri Langta Baba liked to smoke Kukka and Chilam.
That is why devotees also offer chilam while offering chadar. After offering chadar, some devotees offer bhandara prasad to Shri Langta Baba.
It is said about Shri Langta Baba that he never asked for anything from his devotees. If a devotee used to give him any kind of gift, he used to give that gift to someone in need. It is said that he used to throw some of the gifts received from his devotees in a nearby well.
And he used to say that make it cold Maharaj. There is a belief about throwing gifts in the well that he used to put only those gifts in the well. Which were not bought with hard earned money.
Thandi Karo Maharaj means that God should give wisdom to the devotee who gives such a gift and he should walk on the right path. This well is still present in good condition in the Shri Langta Baba Samadhi premises.

Believing about Shri Langta Baba
It is believed about Shri Langta Baba that he was an incarnation of Lord Shiva. And he lived in Kharg Diha for the welfare of the people. After offering the chadar, a feast is organized for the devotees. The prasad of the feast is first offered to Shri Langta Baba by the devotees.
Vegetables are being prepared by skilled cooks. On the second day of Paus Purnima, the temple committee serves Khichdi to the devotees as Bhandara Prasad. After this, the sheets received as offerings at the Samadhi of Shri Langta Baba by the temple committee are distributed among the needy people.
How did he reach the Samadhi Sthal of Shri Langta Baba
When the Andarini dog came to him, he kept some food near him and said, “Eat it Maharaj”. After a few days, that dog became completely healthy. Later, that dog also started living near Baba and would not leave him and go anywhere.
Very good arrangements have been made by the temple committee and the local administration for offering the sheets. The volunteers, women police personnel and male police personnel have made a commendable contribution in this.
Separate queues have been arranged for women and men to offer the sheets. So that the devotees can offer the sheets to Baba without any problem, the queue for offering the sheets has become about 800 meters long.
People move forward in a queue waiting for their turn. The special thing about this fair is that despite the huge crowd here, there is no noise pollution.
And there is no chaos either. People are standing in queues politely. Apart from the instructions given by the committee for the devotees, no musical instruments or loud speakers are being played in the fair premises.
Because of this, there is no unnecessary noise in the fair premises. All the arrangements in the fair premises are quite good. But many shops are seen on the roads and roadsides in the fair area.
